Complete Garden Transformation & Outdoor Living Space

This project transformed a tired, sloping rear garden with limited usable space into a fully landscaped outdoor living area designed for both entertaining and family use.

The original garden consisted of uneven ground, ageing hard landscaping, overgrown borders and a small raised patio that failed to maximise the property’s elevated position and impressive views across the surrounding area. The objective was to completely redesign the space, creating multiple functional levels while improving drainage, access and overall usability.

The project began with a full site clearance, removing existing paving, retaining walls, structures and vegetation. Extensive excavation works were then carried out to reshape the garden and prepare for the new landscaping scheme.

Due to the changes in levels throughout the site, significant groundwork and structural landscaping were required. New foundations were excavated and poured to support a series of engineered retaining walls that would create a large upper terrace and level lawn area below. Careful planning and setting out ensured all new structures worked seamlessly with the existing property while maximising the available space.

A new raised patio area was constructed directly off the rear of the property, creating a natural extension of the indoor living space. Structural retaining walls and feature brickwork were built using materials selected to complement the existing house, ensuring the finished project felt original to the property rather than an addition.

Wide brick steps were installed to provide access between levels, creating a striking focal point while improving movement through the garden. Integrated drainage systems were incorporated throughout the build to manage surface water and protect the newly landscaped areas.

The lower section of the garden was completely regraded and prepared before being finished with a high-quality lawn installation. New fencing and boundary improvements helped define the space while providing a clean, uniform appearance throughout the garden.

The completed design now offers distinct zones for relaxation, entertaining and family use, with the elevated patio providing uninterrupted views across the landscaped garden and surrounding area.
